Personal Statement
Prof. Oludayo G. Amokaye joined the Faculty of Law in December 1993. He holds a Ph.D. from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (2010), and an LL.M. from the University of Lagos (1990). He writes and teaches Land Law, Equity, Environmental Law, and Housing Law.
He has published extensively in local and international journals and has delivered lectures at several learned conferences and public lectures. He is the author of the books: “Environmental Law and Practice in Nigeria” and “Planning and Compulsory Acquisition Law and Practice in Nigeria.”” He and Professor Akintunde Otubu were joint recipients of the Femi Okunnu Research Grant in Property Law and co-authors of the book “Land Use Policy and Management in the 21st Century Nigeria: Need for Reforms.” He was also a UN Research Fellow on Climate Change at the UNFCCC Secretariat, Bonn, Germany (1999) and has served at diverse times as a consultant to international and national organisations, including the World Bank, ECOWAS, Federal and State Ministries of Environment and Physical Planning on various aspects of Land Law, Environmental Law, Policy Development and Legal Reforms.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association and the Nigerian Law Teachers Association. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators (UK & Nigeria), and a Fellow of the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators, Nigeria. In 2022, he became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
