Welcome to Department of Private & Property Law
Welcome to the Department of Private and Property Law. The Department plays a fundamental role in the academic life of the Faculty of Law by providing students with a strong grounding in the core principles that regulate private rights, obligations, and property relations within society.
Our teaching and research focus on key areas of private law that are essential to both legal scholarship and professional practice. The Department offers courses including Law of Torts, Land Law, Equity and Trusts, Law of Succession, Conveyancing Law, Environmental Law, Housing Law and Family Law, each of which addresses important aspects of legal relationships between individuals, families, and property interests.
Through these courses, we aim to equip students with a thorough understanding of legal doctrines governing civil responsibility, ownership and use of land, equitable principles, and family relations. Our curriculum encourages critical thinking, careful legal analysis, and an appreciation of the social and economic contexts within which private law operates.
