Personal Statement
Professor Babatunde Oni obtained his LL.B (Hons) from Ogun State University Ago-Iwoye (Second Class Upper Division). He won prizes for the Best Results in Nigerian Legal System and Research Methods and Land Law. He was called to the Bar in 1998, got his LL.M from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife in 2003 and PhD from the University of Lagos in 2010.
Since joining the Department in 2004, he has served in various capacities, including acting Head of Department of Private and Property Law from 2014-2016; Sub-Dean (2010-2012); Coordinator of LL.M Programme (2011-2014); Staff Adviser Law Student Society (2007-2016) and Kayode Eso Chambers (2009 to date); and Coordinator, Wills Clinic of the Faculty of Law.
He has also served on various Committees within the Faculty and for the University. He teaches Land Law, Principles of Equity and Law of Trusts, Law of Succession and Administration of Estates, and Landlord and Tenant Law.
He is a scholar of international repute with several peer-reviewed articles in local and international journals; he is also an accomplished author and editor of various works including The Law of Succession in Nigeria (Principles, Case and Practice) (2019) Essays in the Lagos State Mortgage and Property law, 2010, and other notable works.
