Personal Statement
Dr. Wahab Shittu is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He has been a lecturer in the Department of Jurisprudence and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos since 2005. He is a seasoned legal practitioner with a professional career close to four decades in private practice, academia and the financial services industry. He has been a lead External Prosecutor to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) since inception till date and also the Independent and Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He was a member of the Presidential Advisory Prosecution team inaugurated by the then Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN, GCON. He was appointed and served as consultant to the prosecution team of the Lagos State Government in the case of Lagos State vs Synagogue Church of all Nations in May 2016. He has been one of the Editors Weekly Reports, Ghana Monthly Law Reports, Economic and Financial Law Reports of Nigeria since inception and also served as former Coordinator Centre for Human Rights University of Lagos between 2015 and 2016.
Dr. Shittu graduated with grade 1 distinction from Ansar-ru-deen College Offa in 1981. He did his A levels at Kwara State College of Technology (now Kwara State Polytechnic) Ilorin between 1981 – 83 and emerged the best graduating student of his set. Subsequently, he attended University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos between 1983 – 1986 and won several prizes including best student, Law of Contract (1983), best student Banking and Insurance Law (1986), best student Public International Law (1986) and recipient of Provost Dean’s Prize and Prince Bola Ajibola’s Prize as outstanding student of the year (1986).
He was the best graduating L.LM Student with distinction in the faculty of Law, University of Lagos (1995) and also best post graduate student in Masters of Public and International Affairs with distinction in the University of Lagos (2010). He was admitted into the Inner Bar in 2022. He recently obtained his Ph.D. at the University of Ilorin.
