Personal Statement

Ms. Asikia Karibi-Whyte is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Jurisprudence & International Law at the University of Lagos Nigeria. She holds degrees in Law from the following Universities: Ibadan and Lagos in Nigeria, and Keele in the United Kingdom.

Her research and writings are rooted in African Studies, Feminist Legal Theory, and International Law. She has held Visiting Scholar positions at the Universities of York, McGill, and British Columbia in Canada. She was also a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Chester United Kingdom. She is currently the Secretary General of the Nigerian Society of International Law and Sub Dean of the Faculty. Her book African Feminism: Its Fundamentals is a resource for students of Gender and the Law. She loves reading and watching Athletic competitions.
