Personal Statement

Dr. Idris Odekunle is a Lecturer in the Department of Private and Property Law, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. He obtained his LL.B degree with Second Class Upper Honours from the University of Lagos in 1996. His outstanding academic performance earned him the prestigious University of Lagos Best Student and University Scholar Award in 1994/1995. He was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar in 1998.

Committed to academic excellence, he pursued further studies, obtaining an LL.M degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, in 2004. He also acquired another LL.M. degree from the University of London in 2012. His academic credentials were further bolstered when he earned a Ph.D in Private and Property Law from the University of Lagos in 2022. His professional affiliations are a testament to his expertise and standing in the academic community.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Management, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN). His research interests are diverse and impactful. His areas of expertise include Land Law, Conveyancing Law, Law of Torts, Law of Succession, Secured Credit Transactions, Principles of Equity and Trusts.
