Personal Statement

Dr. Ihuoma Ilobinso is a legal practitioner and lecturer in the Department of Commercial and Industrial Law, University of Lagos. Her teaching areas include Contract Law, Business Law, Gender & the Law, Legal Research & Writing, and Cyberlaw Courses.

Her research lies at the intersection of Law, Technology & Gender, particularly the legal implications of emerging technologies for vulnerable groups in society. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and presented papers at several national and international conferences.

Dr. Ilobinso has played active roles in speaking, facilitating and planning high-level academic engagements. She recently served as an expert contributor to the World Bank’s Women, Business and the Law 2026 Report on Labour Law in Nigeria. At the 17th Annual Research Conference of the University of Lagos, she presented her team’s project on Digital Transformation for Gender-Inclusive Higher Education – Issues and Responses. The poster presentation was awarded 1st place in the Humanities category.

Beyond academia, she is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT), and the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICArb). She also serves as an Executive Member of the NBA Ikeja Branch Business Forum.
