Personal Statement

Dr. Ayodeji Awobiyide obtained his LLB Degree (Second Class Upper Division) from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos in 2007 during which period he was a Chevron National University Scholar for the duration of his LLB program. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008 as a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He then obtained his LLM and PhD (Public Law) Degrees from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos in 2012 and 2025 respectively. He began his legal career at the Ministry of Justice, Osun State where he served as State Counsel between 2008 to 2009 during his National Youth Service program.

Thereafter, he worked as Counsel in the leading Dispute Resolution Law Firm of Bayo Osipitan and Co where he acquired extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience until he joined the services of the University of Lagos in October, 2016. He currently teaches Administrative Law at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Constitutional Law, Law of Evidence as well as Criminal Law and The Law of Sentencing and Treatment of Offenders at postgraduate level.

His research interests include electronic evidence and its applicability in dispute resolution particularly in the era of artificial intelligence, criminal law, administrative appeals and constitutional democratic principles. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) and an Associate of Accounting Technicians of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), He is also a Notary Public of Nigeria.
