Akinola Ebunolu Akintayo is a Lawyer and Associate Professor at the Department of Public Law, University of Lagos. He is a public law expert with specialisation in privacy and emerging technologies, criminal law and criminal justice administration, constitutional law and democracy.

He has a special interest in data protection. His interest in this emerging area flows from his work on privacy in the digital age. Akintayo is a socio-legal scholar who approaches the intersection of law and technology from the broader areas of democracy, equality, socio-economic justice and equality of vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals and groups.

He is a member of the Data Protection Research Groups on Developing a Compliance Ready Data Protection Environment in Nigeria and on Human Rights by Design in Al Govemance in Africa. Akintayo holds an LLD (Public Law) from the Department of Public Law, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria and an LLM in human rights from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa. He obtained his LL.B Degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. He is widely published and has presented papers at local and international conferences.
