Personal Statement

Professor Imran Oluwole Smith, LL.B (Lagos), BL, LL.M (Lagos), Ph.D (Ireland), FCI Arb (UK), FCTI joined the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos from the Lagos State University as a Senior Lecturer in 1999, and rose to become a Professor of Law in October 2003. He teaches Land Law and Conveyancing at the undergraduate level; and the Law of Secured Credit Transactions, Law of Landlord and Tenant and Planning and Compulsory Acquisition Law at the postgraduate level. He is a Professorial Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies, (SOAS) University of London (2010-date). He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and the author Law of Real Property in Nigeria; Practical Approach to Law of Real Property in Nigeria; Law of Secured Credit; Law of Adverse Possession: An Anglo-Nigerian Perspective; and Property and Trust Law in Nigeria, among others. He was at different times, Head of Department of Private and Property Law and Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. He served the School of Post-graduate Studies in different capacities. He was at various times, member, Council of Legal Education, and had served his State and the Federal Government in different capacities.
